Strawberries and lovage.

The strawberry plants are blooming, and young berries are starting to appear.
They have not been easy to spot though, as my strawberry patch looked like this...

I have been planning to weed there for weeks, but time has passed and there has been so much else to do in the garden.
Finally this evening I got around to weed the strawberry patch, and removed two large piles of wild raspberry bushes, couchgrass, rumex and several other weeds.

I also pruned the little tree that grows there.
Now it looks better, and the strawberry plants can get sunlight and air.
(I started to put down some hay on the ground between the plants, but only had enough to cover half, so I will buy some more tomorrow to finish it).

Gleder meg til å høste jordbær i hagen igjen :)

Can't wait to pick fresh strawberries in the garden :)

Several herbs are looking very nice now, so it is about time to start harvesting some to dry or freeze.
I harvested some lovage today, and put the first three bags in the freezer.

Here the strawberry season is almost over! Cherry season too! We have an apricot tree in the garden and the fruit are starting to get yellow. But we did not spray them and unfortunately they are full of worms! It is the same every year! You have a tip what to do Hilde?
Have a wonderful day!
P.S. I did not forget the crochet bag pattern, I'll still send it to you!
Love and hugs!

Yael: Thanks for stopping by :) Unfortunately I have no tip on what to do by worms. It happens here sometimes as well...
I do not like to spray anything as I do not want to use chemicals in my garden, which does that sometimes the crops or part of a crop get eaten. I try to harvest as early as possible to save as much as I can whenever I see that worms are starting to appear.

Odarka: Thanks! And yes I am really looking forward to homegrown strawberries :)

Hello Hilde, dont you just love picking fresh strawberries from your garden? Nothing beats the taste does it? We have some just forming now, we just need more sun to ripen them and fatten them up a bit!

God morgen!
